Timber industry prefers softwood species over hardwood because softwood grows faster compare than hardwoods and so are inexpensive, they are also facile to work with as they are softer than hardwoods. Softwoods provide additional strength and suitable for printing and writing, unlike hardwood it is difficult to mill.
