Tyler was democrat leaning Whig while Harrison was a die hard Whig.
John Tyler   was a strong Democrat who only became a Whig out of dislike for President Andrew Johnson, and thus was not poised to stay for long.Tyler broke with the Whigs because he was opposed to their policies such as the centralized bank.Tyler forced to sign law of 1842.Need for customs duties slackened later on after the country slowly came out of depression.
