[tex] Y^{2} = R - X^{2} [/tex]


[tex] Y = \sqrt{R - X^{2} } [/tex]

Y^2=R-X^2\\
Y=\sqrt{R-X^2} [/tex]


That, assuming all the variables are non-negative numbers.

Otherwise, there's one more soultion:
