To show that the formula   Volume = (area of the base) · (height)   is dimensionally correct.

Left side . . . . . Volume = [Length]³

Right side:

Area = [Length]² , and height = [Length]

So (area) · (height) = [length]²· [length]  =  [length]³ just like Volume.
