False, it's the other way around: you divide the numerator by the denominator.

For example, to evaluate [tex] \frac{8}{15} [/tex] you divide 8 by 15:

[tex] \dfrac{8}{15} = 8\div 15 = 0.5\overline{3} [/tex]
