What is the least common denominator ?

4 is the LCD

so keep the 3 3/4 but the 1 1/2 would change

1 1/2 = 1 2/4

Then, put it back in the equation:

3 3/4 + 1 2/4

= 4 5/4

Simplest form: 5 1/4 <====== Answer
