simile.this is unlike a metaphor ,which makes a direct comparison  without using the words :"as" and "like".for exampl,a simile will say,:j"ane is as tall as a giraffe,or her eyes shone like two spot lights in the dark..." but for metaphor we will say:jane is a giraffe,,her eyes  were two spotlights in the dark
