Between midnight and 6:00 A.M., the temperature dropped 10 degrees. Between 6:00 AM and noon, the temperature rose 18 degrees. What was the change in temperature from midnight to noon?

The temperature difference from midmight to noon is 8 degrees.
From 12:00am to 6am, the temperature decreased 10 degrees, but from 6am to 12pm, it rose 18, so add -10 and 18 fo get 8 degrees.

The answer is 8 degrees bc if you subtract the midnight temp from the noon temp the difference will be 8
