I am unsure how to this problem. Please help explain it to me.:

Jan has 288 tickets to sell for charity. She sells 2/9 of the tickets to her family and 1/3 of them to her friends.

How many tickets are sold to both her family and friends?

Respuesta :

She sold 160 tickets in all because if you add up the fractions 2/9 and 1/3 you'll get 5/9 Then you multiply the fraction times the tickets she has to sell.

5/9 * 288 = 160

You're welcome!
