How do pollution affects the amount of carcinogens in food sources such as fish?

It would increase the amount of carcinogens in food sources because of the pollution they would consume. A fish in the ocean can consume bits of plastic which would create a chain effect of another fish that fish and then a human which would lead to others eating that harmful material.
