How did the rise of industry in the North and in Europe encourage Southern planters to grow more cotton?

Answer: The souths soil was much better for growing things than that of the North and had much more space for plantations. Europe was more than happy to trade cotton for food, slaves, and ect. And so this encouraged the south to grow more cotton because it was the most profitable opportunity.
