Okay this is easier than you think!

if (x - 2) equals [tex]\sqrt{5}[/tex]

then that means  [tex](x-2)^{2}[/tex] = [tex]\sqrt{5} ^ {2}[/tex]

Anything under a square root when sqared, is itself

[tex]\sqrt{5} ^{2} = 5[/tex]

so the value of [tex](x-2)^{2}[/tex] = 5
