When it came time for the Cherokees to move, how were they treated?

Various military armies forced them out of their own homes and moved them west to Indian Territory. The Cherokees faced a hardship they called “the Trail of Tears” since they were exposed to disease, starvation and exhaustion during their travels to the territory.
