basically, the modern periodic law says ...

“The physical and chemical properties of the elements are periodic functions of their atomic numbers”

and the difference between modern periodic law and mendeleev's law is that the elements in mendeleev's periodic table were arranged by atomic mass and the modern periodic table arranges elements by atomic number

hope that helps :))
