Conditions on the boats were extremely awful. When being transported, these people were packed like sardines onto the ships. The ships were filled with feces, urine, and vomit. People weren't well fed and they were starving. Some enslaved people were often assaulted and even had their hands tied so they wouldn't move. Conditions were so bad, many people jumped off these ships so they wouldn't have to continue suffering through it.
