What is an imaginary number?
Imaginary number squared is equal to -1.
But as you know, no number in the universe squared is ever equal to -1.
Even -2 x -2! negative negative = positive

This imaginary number is imaginary because it is defined as non-existent yet, in my words (when I learned it), I took it as half existing number and half non-existent number.

And what do you get when you take the square root of i[tex] ^{2} [/tex]?

i = [tex] \sqrt{-1} [/tex].

Hope this helps!
