so first, you have to make the denominators equal, to do this you can just simply multiple each denominator by each other. so 1/3 times 5 and then 2/5 times 3 so now you have 5/15 and 6/15. now you just add! 5 + 6 = 11 so your answer is 11/15 because you can’t simplify!
