Precession allows the stars to change slightly their longitude each year, so the sidereal year which is the orbital period of the earth around the sun, that takes the stars as a reference frame. It is 20 minutes longer than the solar year because of precession. This motion of the Earth's axis goes backward and forward in every 13,000 years so we can conclude that there is a great effect of precession on our earth's motion.
