Answer:  The definition of a copmpound is that it have two or more lements.+

Explanation:  The definition of compound is:  "a substance formed from two or more elements chemically united in fixed proportions."  CaO has two elements in a fixed ratio of 1:1.  O2 is a compound since it has 2 elements.
