Malleability: crushing a can doesn't break it, it just bends and distorts the shape.

Conductivity: electrical current will go straight through it, and heat will transfer quickly from one part to another.

Lightness: Aluminium is light enough anyway, but for the volume it carries, there is virtually no weight at all.

Strength: a couple of dozen cans is enough to support a grown man.
