Which story? Use context clues for this question. Does the protagonist seem young and child-like? A teenager? An adult? How does your protagonist act and show emotions. Use the emotions and actions of your protagonist to form a hypothesis of how old your protagonist is. For example if your protagonist has to go to school they could be in their child to teenage phase of life.
