The word flogged is the past tense of flog. Flog means to whip/beat someone or something. When you are flogged it means that you are where whipped with a whip or other devices. The word flogging(the present tense of of flogged) was thought to have first appeared in the 1600's when it was socially acceptable to whip/beat even grown people.
