The probability of drawing a red 5 or a black 8 is equal to:

P = 1/13.

How to get the probability?

In the deck of 52 cards, there are 2 red fives, and 2 black eights. So there are 4 cards, out of the 52, that meet the required conditions.

The probability of drawing one of these cards is given by the quotient between the number of cards that meet the conditions and the total number of cards, so we the probability:

P = 4/52 = 1/13.
