Corn, soy, and alfalfa crops have higher irrigation rates and are main ingredients in the feed as opposed to crops that just use rain. One calf to adult will use about 4000 gallons of water for about 560 pounds of beef. A while lot more for a cow who is producing milk or feeding a calf.
