The sum of two numbers adds up to 70 and their difference is 26. Write two equations to solve for both values

x+y=70
x-y=26

add te equations

x+y=70
x-y=26 +
2x+0y=96

2x=96
divide by 2 both sides
x=48

sub back

x+y=70
48+y=70
minus 48 both sides
y=22
