Biodiversity is the variety of life in a habitat or ecosystem. It is important because without it the food chain would most likely collapse.

Alright well biodiversity is the number of different species found in an environment. And it's important because if it wasn't for the boosts from biodiversity we wouldn't have plants in our environment right now.
