Well, there is a common greeting for native Deutsche speakers, which is "hallo". It's easy, simplified and rememberable, so you should not have a problem with the word and using it. And if you have any other words you wish to know, just ask!

I don't believe there is a hi, but there is a hello! The word for hi/hello in German is Hallo.
