the slope of the line containing the points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is
(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

given
(6,-7) and (5,-9)

slope=(-9-(-7))/(5-6)=(-9+7)/(-1)=-2/-1=2

the slope is 2
