I don't know specifically what the sum and product of an equation is but

factor using quadratic formula

if you have an equation in ax^2+bx+c=0 then you can solve for x using

[tex]x= \frac{-b+ \sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a} [/tex]  or  [tex]x= \frac{-b- \sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a} [/tex]

so input
a=1
b=7
c=2

[tex]x= \frac{-7+ \sqrt{7^2-4(1)(2)} }{2(1)} [/tex]
[tex]x= \frac{-7+ \sqrt{49-8} }{2} [/tex]
[tex]x= \frac{-7+ \sqrt{41} }{2} [/tex]=aprox -0.2984378812836

[tex]x= \frac{-7- \sqrt{7^2-4(1)(2)} }{2(1)} [/tex]
[tex]x= \frac{-7- \sqrt{49-8} }{2} [/tex]
[tex]x= \frac{-7 \sqrt{41} }{2} [/tex]=aprox  -6.7015621187165
