The mass of the substance with a volume of 20 mL and a density of 2.5 g/mL would be 50 g.

From the the formula for density:

  Density = mass/volume

Make mass the subject:

mass = volume x density.

In this case, volume = 20, density = 2.5

Hence,

     mass = 20 x 2.5

                         = 50 g
