30 minutes is a half an  hour

 so 5.5/2 = 2.75 miles ran

15 minutes is a quarter of an hour

6/4 = 1.5 miles ran

2.75 + 1.5 = 4.25 miles total

Since 30 minutes is half of an hour, divide 5.5 miles by 2 to get 2.75. Since 15 is 1/4 of an hour, divide 6 by 4 to get 1.5 miles. Add them. 2.75+1.5=4.25 miles. She ran 4.25 miles in all. Hope this helps! ;)
