One of the Aspects of the US foreign policy was their policy of Isolationism in the 1930s, which was the policy of non intervening into the affairs of others. The us could afford it as it had only two neighbors (unlike in Europe, where the countries were bordering a lot more other countries) and the two oceans gave given a natural barrier that has helped make isolationism possible.
