There are some basic characteristics which are used to determine if a thing is living or non living, the characteristics are 7 in all, they are: movement, nutrition, respiration, excretion, growth reproduction and sensitivity. Also, all living things are made up of cells, they have different level of organisation, they use energy and they adapt to their environment. Every thing that possess these features are considered to be living things.
