The Declaration of Independence refers to rights as being unalienable. What does “unalienable” mean?

In believe unalienable means cannot be surrendered
This means that the rights that mentioned in the declaration of independence already exist ever since everyone of us were born cannot be overlooked by any government officials no matter how high his/her position might be..
