Changing ethnic labels is a problem encountered by researchers assessing the effects of sociocultural forces. Even ethnic labels can be dangerous in society do to there perceptions and they can be offensive as well. For example, Native Americans were once referred to as Indian American, which was very offense considering real Indians Americans originated from India, so the label managed to offend two groups of people. Blacks in America have dealt with the labels African American and Black American.
