Determine the unit rate of a marathon runner who travels 5/2 miles in 1/4 hour

                 (5/2 mile) ÷ (1/4 hour)

             =    (5/2)       x        (4/1)  mph

             =         (20 / 2)  =  10 mph

We can solve this to get the unit rate by doing this:-

5/2=1/4

5*4/2*1= 20/2

20/2=10

Or we could have done it this way:

5/2=2.5

2.5*4= 10

Either way we solve this....our answer will always be 10 miles per hour or 10 mph
