To find the area of the yard we use the formula length × width.

Filling in gives:
[tex]10 \frac{1}{8} \times 7 \frac{7}{8} = 79.734375 = 79 \frac{47}{64} [/tex]

Therefore he needs to order 79 47 / 64 square feet of sod.
