Despite the fact that the Athenian Democracy influenced the US Democracy, they are very different because the Athenian democracy was a direct democracy, citizens directly made the laws themselves. In the US people elect their representatives so they make the laws for them.
Also in the US all citizens have to right to vote, in the Athenian Democracy only men were able to vote, the democratic system excluded women, slaves and children.
