Hello!

We put y into the second equation

2x -1(3x - 26) = 19

Distribute the -1

2x - 3x + 26 = 19

Combine like terms

-x + 26 = 19

Subtract 26 from both sides

-x = -7

Since x is negative we can multiply both sides by -1 to make it positive

x = 7

Now we put this into the first equation to find y

y = 3(7) - 26

Multiply

y = 21 - 26

Subtract

y = -5

The answer is -5

Hope this helps!
